The maiden’s manicure pries open the jaws of a lion.
Beautiful and unyielding,
Her power does not negate her femininity.
The strength she represents is fixed by the card’s darkened border.
The maiden responds to my prompting with a headstand:
Am I to be weak?
Am I to allow the lion’s teeth to meet teeth with myself in between them?
My synapses then jumped from a rut:
What if the lion licks my palms because of my decision to let go?
What if I’ve been weak all along by feeling the need to prove that I am strong?
