The Louisiana Words Tour (July 2026): Now Casting!

Let's express ourselves! Literacy helps free the mind! Literacy helps build community! Our voices matter more then ever!

LouisianaWords.com is the home of Louisiana's LGBTQIA+ writers and our allies! We help market new and seasoned writers for FREE! Just submit your work and we’ll get you into our content rotation! You may submit your content to louisianawords@gmail.com or you may contact us through social media! Our Spring 2026 season of new Louisiana Words content starts Sunday, April 19th!

As of January 2025, Louisiana Words has officially become a nonprofit organization! So, we are looking to share the good news with a few live shows across the state of Louisiana. We are planning a Louisiana Words tour to showcase local LGBTQIA+ writers and spread the word about Louisiana Words, LLC. The show is free! The dates will be Friday, July 3rd – Sunday, July 5th. We will be visiting Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans in that order.

Friday, July 3rd: Lafayette - Cavalier House Books @ 4:30pm

Saturday, July 4th: Baton Rouge - George’s Place @ 3:00pm

Sunday, July 5th: New Orleans - Allways Lounge & Cabaret @ 5:00pm

We are calling for writers! We are now casting featured writers in the local Acadiana, Greater Baton Rouge, and Greater New Orleans areas. Once our cast is formed, we will be releasing promotions later this summer for each event featuring the writers reading in the show. If you are interested in reading at the show, please contact us for a feature spot at louisianawords@gmail.com. We will also ask for open mics at the beginning of the show. So, if you are just looking to share a piece that you wrote, there will be plenty of space for you during the show to share that with the community.

Louisiana Words Remembers Jorge Arturo

There’s nothing that hurts more than when we lose someone from our Louisiana Words family. But, the beauty of our writing movement is that the words of our loved ones live on with us. On June 20th, 2023, Louisiana Words Allstar, Jorge Arturo, moved on from this world leaving our hearts broken. He was a charismatic and talented human being. Jorge resided in New Orleans, LA and had been active on Louisiana Words for over a year. To honor Jorge’s life and work, we will be sharing his writing and live performances all Summer 2023. Please help keep his spirit alive by sharing his work. We know that Jorge’s words will connect with our readers and we hope to keep his spirit alive. The Peculiar New Room (Nick Perere - Baton Rouge, LA)

A peculiar fourth room has appeared in my three bedroom abode. High ceilings Higher than any ceiling in the house Perfectly pristine whitewashed gallery walls The largest window one can imagine Stretching from floor to ceiling Wide as an ocean’s horizon Revealing the lushest greenery and the bluest skies. I am meant to show masterpieces here. But in one of the corners o f the perfectly pristine whitewashed gallery walls i s an ugly patch of dirt. Dirt darker than charred coal. And the dirt is crawling And multiplying. With their spindly legs and dangly antennae Vermin covered in filth and willingly ready to spread their germs Scuffing the perfectly pristine whitewashed gallery walls. But I have to move on, I have a gallery to exhibit. Smile and act as if nothing is wrong. Come. Enjoy the show. Enjoy the artwork hanging Upon the perfectly pristine whitewashed gallery walls.
