The Louisiana Social Pledge

We pledge our allegiance to Louisiana. We will embrace what makes us and our state unique. Louisiana will be recognized as a leader and innovator of the New South. Many great leaders of the future will come from this state. And we will show both the media and politicians that we are smarter than them. We will no longer have our resources exhausted and our people used and left behind. We will work hard and play hard. We will protect each other. We will support each other. We pledge that we will do whatever we can to get these things in motion right now. We will no longer wait for a path to be cleared for us. We will clear the path ourselves. And we ain’t giving up easily. We will socialize in the real world just as well as we do on the internet…in hopes to organize ourselves effectively.

So Excited (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

A new year, a new star, a new dream
A new love, a new car, a new job

Excitement all around the land
Glory to all who believe in joy

Fireworks blasting across the night
How wonderful it is to be a star

Couplets skip throughout the year
Constellations for the romantics

The sun is so excited to be alive
Flames roaring like heated souls

The Last Day on Earth (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

Mountains are screaming murder
In the fields silence waits for nothing
But trouble lurks in the old cocoons
Empowered to turn into fragmentation

The doers and the do notters
Side by side

Valleys climb the ladder of justice
For all the skies come calling home
Where the heavens begin living
Foundations that form solid rock

The doers and the do notters
Side by side

Madness engulfs all like fire
Raging angels flood the masses
Blackness seeps into earth’s pores
Light erodes the fringe of death

A Song for Ourselves (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

A, B, C,
 I spell simplicity
We are God
We will not end here

We are mimes that mimic
What death do you pick?
Sweet dreams of the united
Let our brain be ignited

Let us find peace on Monday
Let Sunday be the end of strife

Little boy dressed in a dress
We love you
Little girl dressed in a suit
We love you

We are mimes that mimic
Let our brains be ignited

Mothers are gifted at living
We love you
Fathers are strong at building
We love you

Let us find rhythm in words
Let us pray for each other again
Green lives in the this city
Morality pump into our hearts

We are God
We will not end here

Hamlet (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

My depression is a cliché
I am unique in the shadows
My father is just a ghost
I know nothing but myself
I just can’t be happy
Black waves of nothing
I don’t want to be
What good is tomorrow?
When everything is dead
I can’t break uneasiness
With the poison in my throat,
In my throat, there, justice is stuck

Batter My Heart (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

Pull my heart out and kiss it
Am I numb to love’s soft touches?
I want to feel your fire

Tackle my heart, hold it down
Do your roughest, your majesty
I want to feel your fire

Batter my heart if you must
Pound love into me, I want it
I want to feel your fire

Oh, battered-love come inside

Patience (A Short Poem) (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

Like the wind
I fly around the globe

A vulture to some
A welcoming breeze others

Patience is my master
It’s will shall forever be done

Three Times We Tried (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

There was that time
We were broken up at sea
The water like cold bridges
Mist engulfing tomorrow
The waves brought Leviathan

Then, there was that time
We were broken up at bay
Eroding shores eating chances
Winds binging on distrust
Armageddon had come to us

And, there was that time
We were together at peace
Centered on gravity’s ball
Spinning on love’s attraction
Merging into our heaven

Honey (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

The chandelier falls
Shatters quietly
I rise from the devastation
A reflection of calamity
Walking on broken glass
I’m joy during World War 3
Honey dripping out of my cuts
God pumps life into my soul
I reflect like the sun
We both like it

Rescue Me (Louis Toliver Jr. - Swartz, LA)

The waves almost made me miss you
But you threw your life vest
I caught it
Up through the loop
I grab your rope
I haven't smiled this much in a long time
Definitely not with the sharks around me
I sing praises to you with the birds
Putting my arms through
I tie the rope tightly
Pulling with your love
I float towards you against the waves
You're here for me

I Still Love You (Louis Toliver Jr. - Swartz, LA)

I still love you
You and me
Yet broken
We don't belong together
I'm crazy for your touch
I'm guilty
Lock me up
Lock us up
Yet broken
We don't sleep together
I'm craving your heart
I'm starving
Build me up
Build us up
I still love you
You and me
