The Last Time (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

This is the last time I confide in you To trust you to have my heart and my back You made me a tool and a goddamn fool You backstabbing, heart-grabbing thief This is the last time I talk to you To tell you that I want you out of my life You made me a liar, a cheater, an addict You deceiver, down right disbeliever This is the last time I look at you To watch you suck the life out my existence You made me doubt my name and my future You love stealing pirate, sorry rotten corpse And this is the absolute, last time That I tell you,  “I don't want you in my life... ...anymore!"

Santa Claus (Gabi Miller - Lafayette, LA)

Santa Claus went up the hill Santa Claus came down Santa Claus went in the river (And was never found)

Writer's Block (Chase Miller - New Orleans, LA)

I just need to write something. Ideas bubbling under the surface, Ready to have their souls bared on a blank page. If only my mind was ready to release them from their captivity. I just need to write something. Today I shared a poem I was able to get out, Praises from their readers shocked me  like a surprise firework in the night sky. Those technicolor sparks brimming with  a shred of hope and a bounty of expectation. I just need to write something. My creativity is a cancer and I its unwitting victim. When finally I'm aware, its murderous clutches have already found me. My heart pounds in fear, my sanity on the haggard fringes. I just need to write something. Questions swarm around me, watching their prey as they prepare to take me away from this place of terror. Will I ever fly away from this turbulent storm? I just need to write something. I crave peace, I crave escape, My soul ragged from its marathon of possibility. Maybe the time has come, maybe I can finally be free. I ju

Godspeed, Lovers by T.Q. Sims (Buy Now!)

Godspeed, Lovers follows... Lovable loner Casey Isaac thinks love isn’t for him. Not since extraordinary events left him with  supernormal powers and a great deal of trauma. But when Oscar Kenzari looks at him, he can’t  help but change his mind. As Divinators, Casey and Oscar have used their psychic powers to defend humanity from sentient, extradimensional storms for one hundred years. But a storm more powerful than any before is brewing. MaalenKun, prince of the maelstrom, conqueror of countless realities, plans to turn the tables by infecting Casey’s mind. MaalenKun is not the only threat. Casey and Oscar must determine who they can trust: the eccentric trillionaire keeping them in the dark, the independent contractors with secrets of their own, or a seemingly helpful extradimensional being shrouded in mystery. There Is No End (Louis Toliver Jr - Swartz, LA)

I passed away. It was a journey through the light but my grandmother was waiting singing a poem much like a song:  All souls unite  Into God’s light  May the sun burn bright  May energy be my might  There’s no need to fear the night  There’s no longer a need to fight ... My grandmother grabbed me from the light. She was standing on a mist like dust. It was made of rock, sand, silver, gold...every particle and element you can imagine.  I was very young when she passed away. I really didn’t remember her on Earth, but I knew who she was immediately feeling her aura.  She spoke with a voice as soft as cotton, “I’ve been waiting. Now come and take a walk with me. It’ll be just a short time to us when everyone else gets here.” “Is this heaven?” I was afraid to ask. I’d have to face my mortality and my immortality.  My grandmother laughed, “No, angel, but we’re not far.” “What is it?” I was hoping it was heaven. “The waiting room.” She led me away from the light on top of the divine mist. Room 412 (J. Michael Norris - Baton Rouge, LA)

When Harold Barmore took the job of night desk clerk at the Boutique Français, a small hotel off an alley in the French Quarter, he’d thought it would be a good place to catch up on some reading, some writing, and maybe some sleep. One of his roommates, Peter, worked late nights at a hotel himself, and he’d told Harold that on slow nights, especially during the week, he could often sneak in naps. Living with three other roommates in what was supposed to be a two-bedroom apartment in the French Quarter meant that Harold constantly ran up on someone he’d rather not run up on, and usually not how he’d like to run up on them—either one of the boys he lived with, drunk and stoned and partially naked, or one of the girls the boys brought home, generally in the same condition. Though that could be more embarrassing. So yes, when Harold Barmore saw the advertisement online that read Small Hotel needs Front Desk Clerk. Night Shift. 10PM-6AM. In Person. No Call
