(A Too Long to Read but You Should) Facebook Status: Life Epiphany at Age 28, A Lesson in "They," "Them," and "Their" (Louis Toliver Jr)

As I got into my underwear, said my prayers, and jumped into bed, it suddenly occurred to me on this night February 18th, 2013 that “they” (whoever decides what is suitable to obtain a Ph.D in) don’t give “Ph.Ds in People” (simply put) out. I said, “Of course, they don’t,” because if “they” gave out “Ph.Ds in People”… then we would understand the thought process of a human beings thoroughly and we know "them," which would lead us to understanding how other people think, and then we would understand how we, ourselves, should think as a whole and pass that information along to help each other…in that order, truthfully. We would ask questions and try to understand each other and how to survive together. However, “they” think it is more lucrative for the few of “them” to divide the majority of us by pointing out our differences. But hey, “they” taught us that we can’t make money if we work together, if we don’t compete, and we let “them” do that for some reason. Foolishly, we give up the control we have over “them” and “they” and we are convinced by our own selves that we need “them” to achieve COMMON SENSE. But we know different, we in our own homes know right now that we can be in our underwear, pray to our understanding of GOD, and rest peacefully in our homes. We know that money is not the root of evil, “they” are at the root of evil. We know guns don’t kill people, animals posing as people kill people. That is because we know that “they” and “them” exist everywhere, in every facet of life. It is to “their” advantage they we know nothing about "them," only what “they” want us to know. The reason “they” don’t give “Ph.Ds in People” (simply put) is because then people would know “them” and knowing “them” (I discovered) doesn’t require any organized education…truthfully. “They” and “them” consistently distract us from the happiness of our own paths. “They” and “them” tell us who we should be, who we should love, who we should hate, what religion we should choose…but we deeply know and we understand that “they” and “them” aren’t GOD…and the list goes on. So, as we, regardless of our careers or goals, are getting up in the morning feeling we lack the COMMON SENSE to survive…I know and feel that just isn’t true. Quite frankly, if we understand how people operate, we understand how the world operates, and we have the COMMON SENSE to survive.

Nobody Said There'd Be a Day Like This (Sam Ray - New Orleans, LA)

I know how this should be:  I've seen it, you see, In soap operas, Movies. Your eyes are closed, As if in sleep. Perfect peachy skin Atop a snow white pillow  Under flawlessly matched sheets. The heart monitor, Quiet bleeps. The ventilator, A steady hiss. None of that is this. Your eyes Stuck open  Seeing without sight Yellow sclera Dumb tears streaming. Tubes, taped to your face  Delicate skin torn Where nurses Repositioned them  To feed you To heal you You never liked being told What to do. Your whole torso spasms Spastic, Every 40 seconds. A machine  Forces your lungs to act. Your hands are warm From hemodialysis  But don't respond  When we each grab one Give it a kiss. We spend the day  Brushing your hair  Telling stories  Singing  songs. Praying prayers. You're not there. Hospital staff Are more lovely  If less pretty  Than on TV. When the time comes  They gently walk us From the room Close the curtai...
