I saw a girl yesterday and I was smitten
Because she had that secret kind of smile
That has you convinced she knows something
Not just anything, either
It was the kind of smile that meant
She knew something wonderful
And she was the only one that knew it
I watched her for a bit and realized
That was her normal face, it wasn’t an expression
And then I started to wonder
If maybe she had such a wonderful secret
That it lit her up from the inside
All the time, so that she looked like someone
Who everyone should get to know
Because a girl like that
Must have many wonderful things inside herself
And getting to know her
Would be a privilege and an adventure
Or at least one would assume from her smile.
Because she had that secret kind of smile
That has you convinced she knows something
Not just anything, either
It was the kind of smile that meant
She knew something wonderful
And she was the only one that knew it
I watched her for a bit and realized
