"I love you."
As a single tear rolled down her face, she walked away into the bright, orange horizon. It was as if she breathed for the first time. The wind bowed to her feet. She had never felt so alive and empowered. The point of no return had been crossed, but she was left with no choice. She felt the last bruise on her abs vanish as she walked away.
Out of nowhere, the ground beckoned to feel her embrace. The guilt of her action weighed her down. Pushed to the edge, she knew it to be the only choice. Dust pillowed into the air, rising. In the distance, the low hum of the sirens filled her ears. Motionless and relieved, she captured this moment. No amount of remorse could summon her back to that dark place. She knew what would be asked of her and she welcomed the question with open arms.
